Character
We can all agree that the character of our elected representatives matters. Throughout my life I have striven to be a person of good character and one who works to better his community. Rather than expecting you to rely upon my self-assessment, however, I decided to reach out to some neighbours and others in the community to see if they would share their opinions on my character.
Commitment
When you commit to doing something, you need to follow through. In my personal and professional life I have taken on numerous responsibilities, projects, tasks and challenges and can proudly say that I have consistently done so guided by a desire to achieve the best possible outcomes that I could in each case. Most recently, assuming duties as the President of the Forest-Lambton Museum Society (FLMS) has presented me with the unique challenge of keeping a long-established museum in operation. The FLMS consists of a very few, but highly dedicated group of enthusiastic volunteers who work hard to preserve and promote the heritage of our community. Just as these are challenging times to keep small businesses afloat, the same is true for charitable institutions like ours. Yet driven by a shared awareness of the importance of keeping connections between the past and present, we are firmly committed to continuing to uphold our efforts into the future for as long as possible.
As the Ward 4 member of the Lambton Shores Council, I can assure you that I will be both an active and pro-active representative, fully committed to serving the needs of our community.
Community
The overriding reason I am seeking to be the Ward 4 representative on council is that I wish to heighten my role in making this community the best that it can be.
Throughout my career as a teacher I always placed a high priority on making positive contributions to the school communities to which I belonged, whether inside or outside the classroom. In my involvement in local sports, whether behind or on the bench, I have enjoyed the sense of community fostered by being part of a team. As a volunteer at the Forest Museum I believe I have helped to make many meaningful connections between the past and present that have helped to deepen the sense of community felt by both long term residents and newcomers.
Taking this next big step in my life, I will draw upon the skills and knowledge I have acquired in both my career as an educator and as an active member of this community and channel these toward enhancing the quality of life for all who call Lambton Shores their home. Inspired by those who have helped to build our community, I intend to do what I can to ensure that Lambton Shores is a place where people want to live and raise their families and where businesses can grow and prosper. If you vote for me you can be assured you will have a representative fully committed to his community.
