Key Priorities for Ward 4

Practical solutions for a strong, affordable, and future-ready community.

The affordability crisis has been particularly tough on our young people, working families, seniors, other vulnerable citizens, and local businesses. The causes of the crisis are to be found far from Lambton Shores, but it is contingent on all political leaders in Canada to do what they can to lessen the effects. As your member on the Lambton Shores Council, I will advocate for measures that will alleviate the local impacts of rising costs. While organizations like Contact House do crucial work, relying on charities to meet basic human needs is a failure of government action.

Keeping life affordable for all.

Investing in emergency services, fire protection, and community care.

Public services managed by local government include emergency services, utilities, water supply, waste disposal, health and social services, community centres, parks, libraries, recreation programming, land-use planning, roads and sidewalks, etc. As the representative for Ward 4, I will do my part to ensure services critical to the well-being and safety of all residents are available and enhanced when and where possible. I encourage you to contact me regarding any concerns you have about the provision of the public services that matter to you.

Standing up for our farming family traditions and small business owners.

Municipal governments must work to support their local businesses, attract new investment, and foster the creation of good, well-paying jobs. Through my work with the Forest Museum, I have developed very positive connections with many local businesspersons and the Forest BIA. These connections have made me aware of the challenges small businesses face, especially in the current economic times. As your Ward 4 Councillor, I will work to promote our business community and support initiatives that will bring new investment to Lambton Shores.
Agriculture has long played a considerable role in the economy of Lambton Shores. As a person with experience working on farms and whose family has a lengthy heritage of farming, I'm well aware of both the joys and challenges of farm life. Supporting our local farming families will always be a priority for me.

Rising to the challenges of artificial intelligence, climate change, and economic pressures.

Although I have a great passion for history, I am very much concerned with the future. To a large extent, of course, this is because I have children and am now a grandfather. Having devoted my career to helping young people gain the skills and knowledge needed for success, I will use my position as your representative to help our families and community navigate the challenges of climate change, artificial intelligence, and new economic realities to ensure a strong future for generations to come.
